Signing up for UR Online

How do I sign up?

You can sign up for a UR Online account by visiting the home page (https://uronline.net) and selecting the “Create a New Account” link right below the log in. You can also sign up by using one of our Social Media icons located to the right of the log in. Using Social Media is faster, and one less username or password to remember!

I need to update my name and contact info in UR Online, but neither of my current email addresses are in the system.

If you are attempting to login to UR Online and your username/email address does not work, you do not have a CURRENT UR Online account. You will need to select "Create a New Account". Please note that if you have not logged into UR Online since August 2013, you will need to create a new account. If you are sure you have already signed up recently, please email uronline@richmond.edu.

Why do you ask for the last four digits of my SSN?

We ask for the last four digits to identify you. Our goal is to keep your information completely safe. UR Online offers the feature to view your giving history, so we’d like to keep this information as confidential as we possibly can for your financial safety.

However, if you are against providing us with this information, you can type “0000” as your SSN. And we will verify that it is you by providing the correct address, birth date, and full name we have on file for you. We do not ask for your full SSN at any time, please do not provide that information to anyone.

Please be sure to type in your information correctly!

Why do you ask for my birthday?

Much like the answer above, we ask for your birth date to identify you. If you wish to NOT provide this information at all, please email uronline@richmond.edu to let us know. If you provide us with an incorrect birth date, you will receive a "denied request" email. If you do receive this email, you could let us know that you do not wish to provide us with this information.

Unlike your SSN (which is not mandatory to provide), birth date is required.

Why does it take up to 2 business days to process my registration?

We have a verification process for each individual registration. We also receive many registrations in one day. When you are granted access to UR Online, you will receive an email from uronline@richmond.edu with a link to log in provided.

If you have a question about your registration, please email uronline@richmond.edu.

Do I need to sign up for UR Online to register for an event?

No, you do not need to sign up for an account with UR Online. Sign up for the event by selecting the link provided to you, and registering through that page only. You will never need to sign up for UR Online to register for an event.

If you are registering for an event and need help, please call/email the number or email address associated with the form. There will be contact information listed on the event registration page if you have any questions or concerns about an event.

I received an email asking to update my profile but I thought I already had an account, my email and password are not working.

If you received an email from uronline@richmond.edu indicating that you need to sign up, then you need to create an account. Go to https://uronline.net and select "Create a New Account" to get started. Please email uronline@richmond.edu if you have any questions about registration.

Alumni Directory

Can undergraduate students access the Alumni Directory?

Undergraduate students can create a UR Online account and update their information, but they will not be able to access the Alumni Directory. This feature will be available to students upon graduation.

I graduated from UR more than once, why is the Alumni Directory only showing one class year?

Currently, we are only showing the primary class year- such as your undergrad year. You will appear in both directories, such as the Undergraduate Alumni Directory and the Law Career Services Directory if you have a degree from both.

Please bear with us as we continue to add new features and make updates to UR Online. If you would like to change your primary class year, please email uronline@richmond.edu.

Why can’t I see the Alumni Directory?

All Alumni are able to access the Alumni Directory with a UR Online account. If you have not logged in or signed up, you will not be able to view the Alumni Directory. If you are an undergraduate student, you will not be able to access the directory. If you are a law student or law alum, you will be able to view the Law Career Services Directory. If you are an MBA graduate, you will be able to view the MBA Alumni Directory.

These directories are only available if you have an account with UR Online and logged in.

I cannot find who I am searching for in the Alumni Directory/MBA/Law Career Services Directory.

Try using the "Advanced Search" and minimize the information you are including in each field. If you are still having a difficult time finding alumni, the person(s) you are searching for may have asked to not be included in our online directory or a record of them is inactive or does not currently exist.

Username / Password issues

Can I use my net ID as a username?

Yes, you can use your net ID as your username.

My username and password do not work.

This could be due to a number of things. UR Online was re-designed in 2013. If you do not remember logging in or creating a new password with UR Online since then, then you will need to create a new account. Any username or password that you had with the old UR Online will not work. Select “Create a New Account” or log in with Social Media to begin.

If you logged in through social media before, and cannot remember your password, you will need to update your password via the social networking site. The University does not keep your password.

If you are absolutely certain that you have already gone through this process for UR Online, then try selecting “Forgotten Password”. This will send an email to your inbox, and you will be able to reset your password from there.

If you are still having issues, please email uronline@richmond.edu for assistance.

I have selected "Forgotten Password" and UR Online is saying my email is invalid.

Much like the previous question, you are receiving this error because you do not have an account associated with that email. You must create a new account or log in with Social Media to continue.

I cannot remember my password. My username is not "SocialWeb_1234".

You are correct! Your username is NOT "SocialWeb_". If you received an email that says your username is this, this means you have signed up using a social media account. You selected Google, LinkedIn, Facebook, or Twitter to sign up. To log in, you will need to select one of these. If it does not log you in immediately, you need to change your password with one of the social media accounts you used. UR Online does NOT store passwords from other websites.

I use a Google Plus/Google account to log in to UR Online, why can't I log in anymore?*

Google has discontinued it's OpenID 2.0 service. OpenID allowed users to securely sign in to UR Online using their Google Apps user account. Now that this is no longer available, email uronline@richmond.edu indicating that you will be switching from Google, and sign up using a different social media source such as Facebook, LinkedIn, or Twitter. You may also create a new account using the "Create a New Account" link below the login on https://uronline.net. Your account information is not deleted, only a username and password will need to be updated.

The form will not allow the password I’m creating.

Once you get an error that your password is not accepted, scroll to the top of the form and read the password error. Your password is required to have at least 8 characters, one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, and one number. Any special characters such as “/”, “&”, or “*”, will NOT be accepted.

Making a gift / Signing up for an event

How do I make a gift?

We have a link provided on UR Online called “Donate Now”. This leads you to https://uronline.net/givenow. If you need any assistance with the form or have any questions, please let us know by contacting the number provided on the page.

Do I need to sign up for UR Online to register for an event/make a donation?

No, you do not need to sign up for an account with UR Online. Sign up for the event by selecting the link provided to you, and registering through that page only. You will never need to sign up for UR Online to register for an event or make a donation.

Student Information

Can undergraduate students access the Alumni Directory?

Undergraduate students can create a UR Online account and update their information, but they will not be able to access the Alumni Directory. This feature will be available to students upon graduation.

I need a full list of Alumni, how do I do that?

UR Online will not be able to assist undergraduate students with searching for Alumni. Please call the Office of Alumni and Career Services for information and assistance.

Profile Updates

How do I change my address?

You can change your address by logging in to UR Online and using the “My Profile” form. You will also notice that you can also update other information on this form as well such as your email address, phone number, and even your business information.

What happened to all of the information in my old profile?

Nothing! We have all of the same information on file for you. This is why we ask you to please update your profile with any new information such as a change of address or a new last name.

My profile says I graduated with the class of XXXX, but I am class of XXXX. How do I change this?

Please email uronline@richmond.edu and we will make this change to your profile.

I am retired, and it does not say that in the directory.

We only list current and primary employers. "Retired" is not an organization, therefore it will not appear in the directory. However, if you will like to add "Retired" as your position, you may update that on your profile. Please do not add "retired" as an organization name.

I have more than one employer, but the directory only shows one.

The directory only shows the primary employer. We do not show multiple employers.

As we continue to expand UR Online, please bear with us!

Refunds / Billing

I think I’ve been charged twice for an event I am attending.

Don’t worry! We’ve most likely caught it on our end as soon as the payment came through our system. However, please call or email us and we will work to get you a refund immediately!

If you are registering for an event and need help, please call/email the number or email address associated with the form. There will be contact information listed on the event registration page if you have any questions or concerns about an event.

My international address is not working on the payment form.

If you are having this issue, it is likely that you are not typing it in exactly as our system requires it. If you do not see your state listed with the associated country, please use "XX" or "NA" as the state. If that does not work for your card, please email donatenow@richmond.edu.

Contact

Other Alumni support services

How do I access JSTOR?

Log into UR Online. Under the "Services" tab, select "JSTOR". This will take you to a page in UR Online asking you to "click here to access this resource". You will need to be logged into UR Online to see this service. Once you reach jstor.org, you will be logged in as ‘University of Richmond Library Services’. You do not need a direct login username and password to use JSTOR. UR Online will sign you in automatically through the link.

If you have any issues with JSTOR, please email uronline@richmond.edu.

What happened to the Academic Index (Gale/InfoTrac)?

Due to very low logins with the academic index through UR Online, we have decided to discontinue our subscription with that service. JSTOR and HeinOnline (for law alumni) are still available, and can be accessed with a UR Online username and password.

Can I change my forwarding email address and password from here?

No, you will need to use the Alumni Credential Service to change this. Please visit http://careerservices.richmond.edu/jobs-and-internships/resources/spiderconnect.html for more information. Alumni can retrieve their log-in information at https://wwws.richmond.edu/alumni (this is a secured portal) or by contacting the University of Richmond Single Sign On (SSO) Alumni support line at (866) 998-0010 or (804) 289-8547. If you need assistance using SpiderConnect e-mail careerservices@richmond.edu.
