Breakfast Lecture and Discussion: Let Your Light Shine- How Mindfulness Tools Can Help Children and Communities Thrive

The Office of the Provost invites you to a mindfulness program with breakfast on Thursday, January 26, 2023 beginning at 8:30 AM. Ali Smith, Atman Smith, and Andres Gonzalez, the founders of the Holistic Life Foundation, will describe their vision and practices for teaching yoga, meditation, and breathwork to thousands of at-risk kids in Baltimore schools helping them to develop deep reserves of patience, empathy, and coping skills. HLF has received wide national attention due to their remarkable impact on student achievement. The breakfast event at UR will highlight useful practices that improve the ability to thrive in challenging environments – the session is relevant for anyone who cares for others and/or wants to practice self-care. Join your colleagues for a 30 minute lecture followed by question and answer time. Registration is required - all are welcome. Registration will end when we reach room capacity.

Breakfast will be provided for participants using the dining center buffet stations (sign in sheet at cashier’s station). The brief lecture will begin about 8:30 AM; you are welcome to arrive early to select your breakfast or arrive and leave as your schedule requires. This is a casual event open to staff and faculty and we hope you will join us! Please register soon if you wish to attend.
