With exam week behind us and grades submitted, summer has officially arrived on campus. This time of year brings a special kind of calm—the quiet walkways and open spaces create a peaceful, reflective atmosphere that's easy to appreciate. As we ease into the slower pace of the season, the Faculty Hub Newsletter will shift to a monthly schedule for the summer.
Though classes are no longer in session, the Faculty Hub remains open throughout the summer. We invite you to take advantage of the programs and resources we have available, and we look forward to staying connected in this more relaxed cadence. - Gabriel

I had the pleasure of attending William & Mary’s Teaching and Learning Symposium this past week, along with my colleagues from the Faculty Hub. It was a great opportunity to connect with fellow educators and learn about the inspiring work being done by other centers for teaching and learning.

I found this insight especially powerful. While hope might seem ephemeral or affective, it can also be something we intentionally cultivate - a commitment, a practice, and an orientation we bring to our work. If you’re looking for summer reading, I strongly recommend either of the books I mentioned above. For something shorter, Kaba’s article, “Hope Is a Practice and a Discipline: Building a Path to a Counterculture of Care,” is also a great place to start.

Last Call for IP3: Apply by May 15

The Inclusive Pedagogy Partnership Program (IP3) pairs students and faculty (or instructional staff) together for a semester-long partnership experience focused on the implementation of principles of inclusive pedagogy. At the beginning of the semester, student and faculty partners identify a specific focus for their work together. Then, student partners regularly observe, provide feedback, and serve as a thinking partner for the faculty member, helping them to reflect on, refine, and enhance their inclusive teaching practices.
